Cookies & storage.
Short version: we don't set tracking cookies. We don't run analytics. We don't have a marketing pixel. The long version follows.
The short version
This site sets no analytics, advertising, marketing, or fingerprinting cookies. Nothing about your visit is sent to a third-party tracker.
You won't see a cookie banner here because, under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and ICO guidance, consent banners are required only when a site sets non-essential cookies or similar technologies. We don't.
What we do store
The only client-side storage we use is for the optional visual "Tweaks" panel — a developer/design tool that lets us preview different colour themes and font pairings. It is off by default for normal visitors. When used, it stores two values only in your browser:
sessionStorage.blackgeek.tweaks.on— a flag that the Tweaks panel was activated this session. Cleared automatically when you close the tab.localStorage.blackgeek.tweaks— your chosen colour theme and font pair, so the panel remembers your preference next time. A small JSON object (~30 bytes).
Neither value contains anything identifying about you. Neither is ever sent to our server or to any third party. You can delete them at any time via your browser's developer tools, or by clearing site data for blackgeekltd.com.
The contact form
When you submit a brief via the contact page, the data you typed is sent to our server and persisted there (see the Privacy notice for retention details). No cookie is set as part of that submission. We do log the originating IP and user-agent for abuse prevention and rate-limiting — these are standard server logs, kept for up to 14 days.
Third-party resources
The site loads two third-party resources, both for typography:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) — for the typefaces used across the site. Google Fonts does not set cookies for font requests, but receives the request from your IP address when fonts are fetched. We make a single font request per session.
The site does not embed Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Hotjar, advertising tags, or any other tracker.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or similar technologies in the future, we will:
- introduce a proper consent mechanism before any non-essential cookie or storage item is set;
- update this page to describe what is set, by whom, and why;
- offer "Accept", "Reject non-essential", and "Manage preferences" choices in line with ICO guidance.
Your controls
You can delete site data at any time via your browser settings. Doing so will only reset the Tweaks panel preference; nothing else is affected. Your browser also supports global controls — for instance, blocking third-party cookies, or sending Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control signals. We honour those signals as a matter of policy because we don't track anyone anyway.
